Black Swallowtail Butterfly

I have observed a number of the larger species of butterfly, particularly the Swallowtails, spending time on the ground in areas of rather rank drying silt around the edge of our beaver pond. I am assuming that this is to obtain minerals rather than their normal flower nectar.
